Proof of Engagement research examines how meaningful participation could be represented without reducing contribution to short-term activity metrics.

The work is expected to consider protocol-readable rights, contribution memory, verification boundaries, privacy, and the risks of rewarding artificial behavior.

Contribution memory

Contribution memory concerns the durable record of useful participation across technical, social, educational, and coordination work.

The research question is not how to maximize visible activity, but how to preserve context without creating fragile reputation systems or centralized judgment.

Protocol security

Security research is expected to cover threat modeling, disclosure pathways, safety budgets, dependency review, and procedures for urgent protocol risk.

The initiative's role is framed as coordination and documentation, not unilateral control over upgrades or emergency authority.

Governance design

Governance design work studies bounded authority, legible process, conflict review, and procedures that allow protocol decisions to remain accountable.

The agenda favors institutional clarity over speed, and process transparency over informal influence.

Anti-Sybil infrastructure

Anti-Sybil research focuses on resilience against artificial activity, duplicated identities, coordinated abuse, and incentives that distort contribution signals.

Any future system would need to balance abuse resistance with accessibility, privacy, and global participation.

Long-term sustainability

Sustainability research studies how open protocol infrastructure can remain maintainable beyond market cycles, contributor turnover, and changing technical assumptions.

This includes maintenance funding models, documentation practices, security capacity, and public goods coordination that can be reviewed over time.
